Associates

Jonathan Putra Maraja Damanik joined Nurjadin Sumono Mulyadi & Partners as an Associate in June 2024. He obtained his Bachelor of Laws degree from the International Undergraduate Program at the Faculty of Law, Universitas Gadjah Mada, majoring in Criminal Law. Prior to joining the firm, Jonathan gained legal experience through an internship at an Indonesian law firm, where he was involved in a range of corporate and litigation matters.

Jonathan’s practice focuses on employment and industrial relations, intellectual property, and general corporate matters. He advises both Indonesian and international clients on advisory, regulatory, and contentious matters across these areas.

In employment and industrial relations, Jonathan advises companies on various aspects of Indonesian manpower laws and regulations, including employment arrangements, termination matters, and regulatory and administrative processes involving relevant government authorities. He also assists clients in industrial relations disputes throughout the dispute resolution process, including the initial assessment of disputes, development of legal strategies, bipartite negotiations, mediation proceedings before the relevant manpower authorities, and litigation before the Industrial Relations Court. His experience includes preparing legal positions, conducting negotiations with employees and their representatives, and assisting and representing clients throughout court proceedings.

In intellectual property, Jonathan’s practice primarily focuses on copyright disputes and the protection and enforcement of clients’ economic rights. He has assisted clients in addressing the unauthorized commercial use of copyrighted works, particularly musical works, including establishing and asserting clients’ rights and pursuing compensation and other appropriate remedies. His work includes developing legal strategies, preparing demand letters and other legal correspondence, conducting negotiations and settlement discussions with counterparties, and preparing settlement arrangements to protect and realize clients’ economic interests.

Jonathan passed the Advocate Profession Examination (Ujian Profesi Advokat or “UPA”) in February 2024 and is expected to be admitted as a member of the Indonesian Advocates Association (PERADI) in 2026. 

Jonathan is fluent in English and Indonesian.
