Ilya Sumono is one of the founding partners of Nurjadin Sumono Mulyadi & Partners (NSMP) law office since its inception in 2005 (from its forerunners starting from Sumono Mulyadi & Partners and Nurjadin Sumono Mulyadi Pratanto). He graduated from Faculty of Law, University of Indonesia with a degree in law in 1992.

Ilya Sumono is an all-rounder lawyer who specializes and focuses on various practice areas and industries namely, labor and employment, corporate commercial, manufacturing (ranging from tobacco and fast-moving consumer goods), corporate finance and restructuring, real estate and property, information technology service, legal audit (private or state based) and commercial litigation.

Ilya Sumono started his career as a journalist and then became an editor in one of a leading news agency in Indonesia from 1987 to 1994. During his time as a journalist and an editor, he was actively involved in several activities that require him to meet public officials as well as public relations practitioners.

During his legal career, Ilya Sumono has advised a certain conglomerate to procure participating interest in oil and gas project in Cepu, Indonesia andhe routinely advised the client in the day-to-day activity with respect to oil and gas and corporate matters in such project including major corporate actions. He assisted and represented a publicly listed private bank in its labor dispute with its labor union and advising the possible legal mitigations. Further, he had assisted and represented labor-intensive industries (which encompass tobacco and several fast-moving consumer goods manufacturing companies) in its reorganization attempt, outsourcing matters accompanied with preparing and negotiating its collective labor agreement with the company’s labor union, as well assisted and represented them in industrial relation disputes up to the labor court concerning employment terminations. He also represented several Indonesian property developers for the listing of its projects on the Singapore Exchange.

Ilya Sumono is a lecturer of labor law at Tarumanagara University.

Ilya Sumono is a member of the Indonesian Advocates Association (Perhimpunan Advokat Indonesia/Peradi) and Capital Market Legal Consultant Association (Himpunan Konsultan Hukum Pasar Modal Indonesia) registered at the Financial Services Authority (Otoritas Jasa Keuangan/OJK).
