Retno Purwaningsih earned her Bachelor of Law from the University of Indonesia in Litigation Law in 2001. Retno has sixteen years of experience in legal pratice.
Retno has rendered her advisory services to clients on various legal matters in Litigation Law (civil and criminal cases). She was actively involved in various tourism industries especially in Southeast Asia that required her to be a government and public relations practitioner.
Retno focuses her practice on general corporate matters and commercial law, land and property, industrial relations, environmental law, corporate litigation, criminal litigation, criminal law, and with the Police Department of the Republic of Indonesia, especially at the Directorate of Special Crime, Directorate of General Crime, Cybercrime and also the Directorate of Specific Crime. She also has expertise in licenses and permits. Retno provides advice and assistance to both domestic and international clients in various business sectors (ranging from food and beverage, tobacco, and fast-moving consumer goods) and is renowned for maintaining vast networks in both Private and Government Institutions, and also with the Police Department of the Republic of Indonesia.
Retno focuses her practice on general corporate matters and commercial law, land and property, industrial relations, environmental law, corporate litigation, criminal litigation, criminal law, licensing and permits, as well as legal matters involving the Police Department of the Republic of Indonesia (Kepolisian Negara Republik Indonesia), particularly the Directorate of Special Crime, Directorate of General Crime, Cybercrime, and other relevant units handling specific criminal matters. She provides comprehensive legal advice and assistance in both contentious and non-contentious matters, including corporate and commercial transactions, regulatory compliance, contractual matters, licensing and permitting, legal risk assessment, dispute resolution, investigations, and litigation. Retno is also experienced in assisting clients in navigating complex regulatory and institutional matters, particularly those involving government authorities and law enforcement institutions.
Retno advises and represents both domestic and international clients across various business sectors, including food and beverage, tobacco, fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), trading and distribution, property, and other commercial industries. Her practice combines legal expertise with a strong understanding of clients’ commercial and operational needs, enabling her to provide practical and strategic solutions tailored to each client’s circumstances.
She is also recognized for maintaining extensive professional networks within private and government institutions. Her strong institutional relationships and experience in dealing with relevant authorities allow her to effectively assist clients.
Prior to joining Nurjadin Sumono Mulyadi & Partners (NSMP), Retno served as a Division Head of the largest Indonesian amusement park and as the Deputy Director of its subsidiary engaged in the hotel and resort, tourism business sector. Retno is also experienced in the mining industry and served as a Director of an oil company based in East Java.
She is a member of the Indonesian Advocates Association (Perhimpunan Advokat Indonesia – PERADI).
